The less ‘extra work’ or thinking we have to do to succeed, the more likely it is we’ll use the system properly. Pictures and icons are great for this, as they allow us to check what goes where without investing too much personal energy.

HOW TO USE THIS DOCUMENT

  1. Print page 3-5 of this document in colour at either 100% size on A4, or anywhere up to 141% on an A3 sheet (if you’d like larger copies).
  2. Cut around each set of illustrations to create individual signs for your waste sorting system. You can include the name of each bin or trim it off – whatever works for you!
  3. Stick your signs on an easily-visible part of each bin/collection container so people can sort their waste with as little effort as possible.
